چکیده
Jung et al.34 (2007) randomly allocated 13 Yorkshire pigs to two groups for pulsatile (twin pulse pump, n=7) versus non-pulsatile (biopump, n=6) VAD treatment after electrically induced ventricular fibrillation and investigated the flow in the left coronary artery. After 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 min, they measured mean coronary flows of 0.77±0.3, 0.76±0.19, 0.95±0.23, 0.86±0.23, 1.00±0.24 and 0.95±0.17 ml/kg/min for pulsatile (50 bpm) support with 2 l/min (equating to 67±8 ml/kg/min). The flow measurements were always lower for the equivalent non-pulsatile support (equating to 70±9 ml/kg/min). Support at 20, 40 and 60 min had to be increased to 84±17, 87±24 and 85±18 ml/kg/min (p<0.05) and to 79±17, 75±13 and 73±13 ml/min/kg (not significant) at 80, 100 and 120 min to achieve the same coronary flow. During non-pulsatile perfusion, a flow that was 25%–28% higher was required to achieve the same coronary perfusion as for pulsatile perfusion.

Myocardial perfusion scan accuracy in detection of coronary artery disease - Comparison with exercise stress test [Persian]
Introduction: In patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) noninvasive evaluation for detection of ischemia is important to avoid invasive interventions like angiography. Exercise stress test is conventionally the first study used in evaluation of CAD. Considering the noninvasive nature of the myocardial perfusion scan, we decided to compare its accuracy with stress test. Methods: Patie...
متن کاملPrediction of Changes in Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction after Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery by Myocardial Perfusion Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography
Introduction: Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is considered to be the single most important prognostic factor in patients with previous myocardial infarction. LVEF is not improved in all patients after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study aimed to assess the possibility of prediction of LVEF changes after CABG using myocardial perfusion gated signle photon emission compu...
متن کاملPulsatility of ascending aortic pressure waveform is a powerful predictor of restenosis after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty.
BACKGROUND Because ascending aortic pressure has a greater effect on coronary perfusion during diastole than systole, we hypothesized that a high coronary diastolic-to-systolic pressure ratio prevents coronary lesions from restenosing after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) and that ascending aortic pulsatility relative to mean pressure is higher in patients with restenosis ...
متن کاملReversal of glibenclamide-induced coronary vasoconstriction by enhanced perfusion pulsatility: possible role for nitric oxide.
OBJECTIVES ATP-sensitive potassium channels (K+ATP) prominently contribute to basal coronary tone; however, flow reserve during exercise remains unchanged despite channel blockade with glibenclamide (GLI). We hypothesized that increasing perfusion pulsatility, as accompanies exercise, offsets vasoconstriction from K+ATP-channel blockade, and that this effect is blunted by nitric oxide synthase ...
متن کاملDiagnostic Accuracy of Gated-SPECT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging and Exercise Stress Test for Diagnosis of Coronary Artery Disease
Background and Objective:Accurate diagnosis of CAD using noninvasive procedures is of great importance. The aim of the study is to assess diagnostic accuracy of myocardial perfusion imaging and compare it with exercise stress test in order to decipher a more accurate and cost-effective method for CAD detection. Materials and Methods:Of 430 consecutive patients suspected with CAD, 104 performed...
